Mlion delivers Pipes and other steel material for San Miguel Power Plant in Bataan Mariveles.
Mlion Corporation successfully delivered steel pipes for MPGC Power Plant for the Jetty and Intake Structure used for the power plant.
The Coal Jetty and Pier comprise of long length spiral steel pipes with coating. Mlion was involved throughout the design process and collaborated with the contractor J.E. Manalo & Co., to provide a customised steel solution, using a combination of Low Corrosion ASTM A690M Mariner Steel Grade with a combination of High Tensile EN standard S355JR. The Low Corrosion grade A690M provided better corrosion protection in the splash zone and allowed the contractor to save on the thickness of piles being used, while the embedded portion utilized high tensile S355JR grade. This combination provided the customer with optimum thickness and weight savings as well as cost effectiveness on the project. The higher yield strength of the S355JR and A690M grade also provided much better material properties compared to A252 Grade 2 often used in the Philippines.
Mlion Corporation worked closely with contractor J.E. Manalo & Co., to provide the necessary commercial aspects by providing a long term price fix on the project, allowing the contractor to adjust its quantity during the construction phase. During the construction phase, due to a change in specification, the contractor had to change his design from Panamax Size vessel to Cape Size vessel, calling for longer length piles and adjustments to be made. Our flexible approach with the contractor allowed for this change to occur and we eliminated any extra costs involved in doing so to assist the contractor.
On the logistics aspect, we worked closely with Harbour Pilots and Port Authorities to have our vessel call directly at the site location, eliminating any double handling and efficient discharging of the products. This arrangement helped save several days of discharging and cost savings for customers to pick the piles up from the port.
On the intake structure, we supplied Pipes with Interlocks to ATE Engineering, the contractor in charge of the portion of the works. CP2 interlocks were welded in the factory and delivered to site. Similarly, we chartered vessels to deliver the piles to site to assist.
